Our feet are finished but our heads are brimming with ideas.
Every time it’s the same story: we’ll promise to wear shoes that are adapted for walking the lengths of the trade show rows, but every time we come back to our fashion senses and remember that fashion won’t admit the overly casual look. We suffer in silence…
As the days went by, we began fantasising about platform shoes that gently massage your feet while remaining outrageously fashionable.
As it happens, as illustrated by our photo report, the fashion hub of late is at foot-level: shoes – fetish and sensual objects – are taking those who don them to the height of elegance and nonchalant grace.
While some designers are coming up with increasingly improbable heels in terms of balance, others hold their own through comfort, detail and finishings.
Some have revisited some of the grand classics, like the Derby shoe embellished with studs and in mixed- or muted-tone leather.
The ballerina pumps are more coquette than ever, and come with sequins, printed lining, in pure leather, decorated with little studs or complete with steel caps even.
We’re rather partial to these flat little numbers that evoke holidays and gentle strolls. We relish in the thought of having a pair in our handbags or directly on our feet – no need for socks when it’s pure leather!
In the heel camp, we’re looking at grand architectural design (or rather, heavy machinery)!
Heels escape below the feet or propel themselves from behind. A host of labels are now toying with this Prada-launched futurist trend.
One acclimatises to these high-perched shoes, and while they may look off-balance, they do give the impression of flying. It’s true!
From the feet, we moved up to the head for hats and headwear.
We take a step back in time to the age of elegant hats, before stepping forward to sculpted and eccentric hats.
They are visual, amusing, playful, formal, colourful, light, in-your-face… the list goes on! These hats really grab your attention, making your smile and laugh as an expression of your imagination.
